Keeping the twinkle lantern clean:

The twinkle lantern stays clean by washing it regularly. The stearin is removed with warm water and the lantern is washed in a machine or by hand, e.g. with soap. Handle the lantern with care and when washing hold it by the bottom, not the edge. Cleaning a sooted twinkle lantern: soak the lantern in a solution of washing-up liquid overnight and then wash the lantern either by hand or in the machine. Regular washing will keep the lantern clean.
